the long awaited update. so where did i leave off?
I think it was back in February when I got my root canals done and was waiting anxiously for my crowns to be made. I thought getting my crowns would be the end of it all. But… well, there’s still been a lot of teeth drama since then.
I got my crowns, and noticed they started to look gray after about a week after having them in. I went back to the dentist to see if this was normal; if they were bruised or still trying to adjust to the trauma. My dentist told me to come back and they’d make porcelain veneers instead which will hide the gray-ish color of the metal posts. So I went back, they drilled off the crowns, made a new mold and gave me the temporary teeth again.
There was a lot of going back and forth trying to match the color of my crowns to my surrounding teeth. I never realized how yellow my other teeth are.
My new crowns came in and they were too white this time! So my dentist made me bleach trays so I can bleach those yellow nasties to match my crowns. I kept my temps in for 2 more weeks while I bleached my teeth every night. The bleach was pretty strong and made my gums and teeth really sensitive so I skipped some nights when they were really bothersome.
I went back to the dentist, my teeth looking really white and nice and got my new crowns put in.
THEY LOOK AMAZING! I was really disappointed when I got the “grey crowns” because they just didn’t look like my old teeth. I was sad thinking that my teeth would never look the same again. BUT this new crowns looked sooo much better! I wanted to start crying because I was so happy at how they looked and happy that the whole process was FINALLY over!
now we’re up to present day and a few days ago, I noticed that one crown was feeling extremely sensitive and a bit loose. I started freaking out because I didn’t want to go through any more dental work. I grind my teeth in my sleep so I figured that the grinding has been upsetting my crowns. I went back to the dentist again. He shaved down my bottom teeth adjacent from my crowns so that when I grind my teeth they won’t bump heads. They also made a new mold with my new crowns so I have an updated bleach tray and in a week, I’ll have a new night guard.
So that’s the update for now. Hopefully next week will be my last visit!
